Skin & Coat Shampoo

Dental Chews

Dental Chews are a tasty and healthy alternative to rawhide that will keep your dog happily chewing his or her way to clean and healthy teeth and gums. Made with real pork skin, Dental Chews are easier to digest than rawhide and provide a safer chew texture that helps to remove food debris and tartar build up. A delightful snack naturally high in protein and low in fat, Dental Chews also help to keep your dog’s breath smelling fresh with a blend of mint and chlorophyll, which gives them their natural green streaks.
  • Easier to digest than rawhide
  • Helps maintain healthy teeth and gums
  • Freshens breath
  • Low fat, high protein
  • Helps satisfy chewing needs
  • Safe for puppies and seniors
  • No rawhide, salt, artificial flavors or preservatives
  • Makes good dental hygiene fun for your dog!

Why is pork skin better than rawhide for chewing?

Rawhide is very hard for a dog to digest, so if a large chunk of rawhide is torn off and swallowed it could present a choking hazard or intestinal problems. Pork skin is a better choice for your dog because it is easier to digest than rawhide.  Your dog’s saliva will break down the pork skin quickly and easily, making these chews a less gummy or much “cleaner” chew than rawhide.

With your help, your pets can have healthy teeth and gums throughout their lives.

We know your pets are important to you. In fact, the vast majority of us think of our pets as our “children.”  We let them sleep in our beds. We display pictures of them in our homes and offices. Yet one important aspect of their health and happiness is often overlooked…dental health.

Dental health often falls low on a pet owner's list, taking a back seat to exercise, proper nutrition and grooming. Many pet owners simply don't realize the importance of oral care to their pet's overall health. Our pets' mouths are as important to them as our hands are to us: They use them to eat, play, explore and more. Imagine how a toothache can crimp their lifestyles. And they can't tell anyone!

Because dogs and cats can't brush their own teeth, it's up to their owners to ensure they get the proper oral care they need. Unattended dental health problems cannot only distress your beloved pet, but can lead to serious conditions and ailments. Many of these problems can be prevented by implementing a regular home dog dental care routine.

Veterinarian Dr. Jane Bicks offers some tips to help ease you and your pet into a home dental care routine:

Good Dental Health Starts with Proper Diet

The number one thing that you can do to promote good dental health in dogs is to feed them a well-balanced diet consisting of 100% dry dog food. The long-term use of canned dog foods is a big cause of dental problems. With every bite of dry food there is a scraping action on the teeth and the dry particles are much less likely to stick and promote tartar build-up.

Regular Brushing at Home

The best method of preventative dog dental care is brushing your dog’s teeth regularly. Veterinarians usually recommend that you brush your dog’s teeth at least two times a week. There are also various daily oral care liquids that you can add to your pet’s water.  They are a great alternative if your pet resists having his or her teeth brushed!

Entice Your Dog to Chew

Very few dog owners brush their dog’s teeth as often as veterinarians recommend, therefore encouraging your dog to chew will make a big difference in the effectiveness of your dental care routine. When your dog chews, enzymes are released helping to destroy plaque and tartar. Daily dental chews will also help to remove food debris through chewing action. They're also great for relieving boredom and separation anxiety. So put your dog to work. Give your dog plenty of fun and yummy Dental Chews as part of your home dog dental care routine.

Regular cleanings by your veterinarian followed up by a home dental care program can help keep your dog’s mouth healthy and clean.
